Most people do not know is that children are extra vulnerable to sun damage and that sunburn at a young age significantly increases the risk of skin cancer later on. And kids diagnosed with cancer are even more vulnerable to sunlight due to chemotherapy. From his scientific background and experience as a skin cancer expert, Dr. Daniel Kadouch knows that UV resistant swimwear is proven to be more effective than just sunscreen alone.

Chantal Bles: “So if you get sunburnt a few times as a child, which happens very easy during play, you are much more likely to develop skin cancer later onion life. And we as parents can prevent this with the right measures. UV protective swimwear is seen more often nowadays. But not all of them protect equally well. I have teamed up with Daniel Kadouch, a dermatologist specialized in skin cancer. Together we designed a UV swimwear collection using a color orange with a sleeve of rainbows drawn by children. The rainbows are really special to us. Jada draws them a lot and the rainbow represents hope and commitment. The color orange was specially chosen to raise money for the Princess Máxima Center. The center where we lived for a long time with our daughter. You understand that Máxima means so much to us.’

The Princess Máxima Center for pediatric oncology is a unique center that brings together all the highly complex care and research for children with cancer in the Netherlands. The Princess Máxima Center for pediatric oncology officially opened in June 2018.

“We know better than anyone why it is so important to continue raising money for Princess Máxima Center’s mission, to cure every child with cancer with an optimal quality of life. That is why the entire proceeds, €15 per item sold, will go to Princess Máxima so that we can give even more children like Jada a healthy life.’
